Course topics:  

The course topics are based on the issues covered in chapters 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the leading coursebook Momente A1.1, Hueber Verlag

The topics cover everyday life, including formal situations:

- introducing yourself and others (giving your name, country of origin, place of residence, age, marital status, etc.)

- talking about your family

- talking about your professional situation and knowledge of foreign languages

- naming objects in your immediate surroundings (furniture, everyday items, etc.) and describing them briefly

- expressing your opinion about these objects

- conducting a dialogue with a shop assistant, asking about the price

Based on these topics, the following grammatical issues are introduced:

- regular verb conjugation

- irregular verb conjugation: „sein, haben, sprechen“

- structure of affirmative and interrogative sentences

- definite and indefinite articles;  negation „kein“

- numbers up to 1,000,000

- possessive pronouns in the singular

- prepositions: „aus, als, bei, in”

Course objectives:

The goal of the course is to develop communication skills in the above-mentioned topics in four language areas in the following order: listening comprehension, speaking, reading comprehension, and writing. This takes place in a specific cultural context, the understanding of which also requires general knowledge of selected social and economic issues in German-speaking countries.

Knowledge of English will be used to compare certain structures and issues that are also present in German.

Working methods:

- online classes using the e-book version of the main coursebook and other materials prepared by the teacher

- use of the Wordwall, Kahoot and Easy German online platforms

- regular homework assignments aimed at consolidating the material

-  flipped classroom method (students  familiarise themselves with audio or video material in advance, which serves as a starting point for the new lesson)

Final course requirements:

- minimum attendance of 75%

- final written grammar and vocabulary test with a minimum score of 60%
